Recently while visiting Japan I made a trip to the Kyoto Botanical Garden, and was very impressed.  There was an extensive collection of plants and trees, as you would expect.  But also present was a remarkable conservatory.  The conservatory had many surprises in store for me, including fruiting papaya and banana tree and a mango tree in bloom.  There was even a breadfruit tree, something which is particularly difficult to grow outside habitat.

The biggest surprise was the presence of a baobab (adansonia digitata) tree, growing in all its splendour.  It must take a lot of courage to grow this tree in a greenhouse.  But it has brought them the ultimate reward of producing fruits.  Look at the photos.
